Live Safe 101
Live Safe 101 is open to all Colorado State University students. The one time, three hour class is held in a small group, with a non-judgmental format that focuses on lively and stimulating discussion. It is facilitated by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Education and Prevention staff and graduate students.
Topics covered include:
- the glamorization of alcohol
- media influences
- addiction vs. abuse
- myths and reality about substance use on college campuses
- information on how substances affect the brain and body
- various interactive exercises used to generate discussion on the social, interpersonal and academic influences substances have in our culture.
In addition, a panel of CSU students will share their personal experiences about the impact substance use had on their lives. Opportunities for asking questions are given and the general atmosphere tries to promote a non-judgmental and relaxed environment for exploring ideas, beliefs, myths and misperceptions about substances. Finally, students develop their own plan for implementing safe practices in relation to their substance use.
