Choosing Well

The Choosing Well program is a voluntary treatment program for students wanting additional university resources because of significant substance use. The program emphasizes accountability and personal responsibility while providing on-campus therapy and random monitored drug testing. Treatment components include; use management, peer-group support, and individual and adjunctive therapy.

Students are eligible for Choosing Well only if they do not have any community or campus judicial issues pending. Students may qualify as a Choosing Well candidate at their own request or through a referral by the Basics clinician. The program has two phases: the first is to support the student in the process of becoming abstinent from all alcohol and drugs. During the first phase of the program, the clinical staff will assist the student in understanding destructive patterns and motivations for substance use.
